On the way to the German Embassy -Kathmandu / Berlin

In February Birgit went to meet the Nepalese Ambassador in Berlin to introduce ourselves and our first program. Therefore it was a logical next step to do the same in Kathmandu to go an “see” the German Embassy.

A meeting with the Diplomat who is in charge of Press, Political and Cultural Affairs was arranged. The journey to get there was already an adventure as most trips are in Nepal 🙂

As we were registered because of our prescheduled meeting, it was easy to enter and pass all security. We had to leave all our belongings, except for pen and paper outside – no phones or any other electronic devices were allowed. Our passports got checked and so did we. Friendly people ensure a smooth entrance and guided us to the waiting room. The meeting was very interesting and we learned a few things which will help us to be more successful with our work in Nepal. Madan:” I can smell Europe inside here. It looks and feels different.” And he was right: it was like being in Germany insight 🙂

We learned that there are 9 diplomats stationed in Kathmandu. The embassy offers a regular meeting for NGOs every 6 month as a platform to introduce their work, progress and any other information the NGO wants to share. We are very lucky, because we got added to the invitation list and will be able to share and introduce our work to them. The German Embassy offers also advise, legal support – if required – and rewards (cash) one program/NGO each year. We will have to find out what the next steps are to be able to be considered for the financial support.

We introduced bbuildsupnepal e.V. , BBUN and our program as well and will prepare a paper based presentation to be presented at the next NGO Day.

This was a very good meeting and we were very happy that we got to introduce ourselves.

bbuildsupnepal – Let´s create a better life for children in Nepal.

We are creating a Better Transit Home in Kathmandu for street children, runaways or children who were victims of abuse. Help making a difference for children and families in Nepal.
